FROM MAP TO PRINT FILE

Free STL from a map for your 3D printer

Create a model of a town or terrain from a map area. Generating and downloading the STL and colour 3MF is free and needs no account. Open bridge spans may need removable slicer supports.

How to get an STL in three steps

  1. Choose a place in the Czech Republic and the area width.
  2. Set the size, relief, map features and nozzle diameter. Check the dimensions in the 3D preview.
  3. Click Download model and choose the ZIP with the STL or the STL alone.

STL, ZIP or 3MF?

STL holds the shape for single-colour printing and keeps neither colours nor unit information. mapSTL.com exports coordinates in millimetres; check the same unit when importing into your slicer. The recommended ZIP adds the configuration and data attribution to the STL. 3MF keeps the dimensions, named colour parts and attribution in one file.

What to set in the slicer

After importing, compare the dimensions with the mapSTL.com preview. Choose the printer, nozzle and material, check the layers and, for 3MF, assign filaments to the colour parts. The colour parts overlap the body slightly and the slicer merges them; no supports are needed. Adapting small buildings to the nozzle helps limit overly slender features but does not replace a check before printing.

Pick the right model

Start with a town model or create terrain alone. The detailed procedure is in the mapSTL.com guide.
