RIDGES, VALLEYS AND A NEW PERSPECTIVE

3D terrain and landscape model from a map

Capture the shape of a favourite mountain or a landscape you know from your trips. mapSTL.com builds the relief from real elevation data; you adjust the model for your print.

Relief alone or landscape with map features

The Terrain only option switches off buildings, water, roads, forests, railways and trees. Individual features can be added back. Areas wider than 8.5 km produce relief only. For a first try open Sněžka or Lysá hora in the gallery.

Scale and hill exaggeration

The print footprint can be 10, 15, 20 or 25 cm. The scale follows the size of the selected area. Relief exaggeration from 1× to 3× changes the height of the landscape, not the width of the map; at 1× the terrain keeps its true proportions.

How tall will the finished model be?

The base thickness of 2–10 mm is the bottom layer below the lowest terrain. The relief and, if present, buildings, trees or the rim rise above it. The preview shows the total height of the finished geometry together with width and depth; the 15 cm figure alone sets the footprint, not the height.

Colours, clean sides and export

Choose the body colour and a version with or without a rim. Map colours form only the top layer; the sides and body have a single colour. You can download the model as STL or colour 3MF. The landscape resolution depends on the source data.
